Description

The 1P Cirriform Tarp - a lightweight tarp shelter for hikers on the move

The Cirriform is for hikers who want to spend most of their day, well, hiking. Whether you're a seasoned ultralight tarp camper or making the jump from a freestanding tent, it delivers solid weather protection and an intuitive setup. With multiple inner options to adapt to your needs and the season, the Cirriform pitches fast, packs small, and holds its shape when the weather gets rough. It's the shelter we reach for on high-mileage days when the weather is unpredictable, and setup needs to be automatic and adaptable.

  • Full-coverage tarp
Front and rear beaks for dependable weather protection
  • Dual-entry
Side access for everyday use, front access when conditions call for it
  • Taut pitch
Aggressive curvature and a low profile keep it taut through the night
  • Compact footprint
Fits tight campsites while maintaining coverage
  • Recycled materials
Tarp fabric, thread, and select webbing are made from recycled materials
  • Trail weight
332g (11.7oz) for the tarp and 381g (13.6 oz) all in

Performance

The shaped geometry and Silpoly fabric work together to keep the pitch taut through the night. Silpoly resists sagging when wet, so you're not re-tensioning at 3am. The curvature handles wind and sheds rain without requiring a perfectly flat campsite. When bugs or condensation are a factor, pair it with one of our inners to run it as a full double-wall setup.

Dual Entry

The Cirriform has two entry points, and each has a purpose. The side entry is the everyday option - easy to get in and out, and on clear nights, we love rolling it back for a view of the stars. Use the front entry to keep the sleeping area covered when weather moves in. Switching between them is as simple as moving a clip.

Pair it with an inner

The Cirriform pairs with a bivy, net-tent, or floor to create a modular double-wall shelter you can adapt to the season and conditions. We make three inners designed for it: the Y-zip Bug Bivy, the 1P Bug Shelter, and the Tub Floor. Most other brands' inners will work too. The Cirriform DW bundles the tarp with the Bug Bivy or Bug Shelter at a discount.

Trekking pole supported

Pitches with your trekking poles or tent poles. The Cirriform accommodates front poles from about 37" to 44" (94-115 cm). Poles of 26"-33" (66-84 cm) are best for the foot end, though longer poles can be adapted.

Optional pole sets are available for those who prefer to travel without trekking poles.

Notes/FAQ:

  • Do I need a groundsheet or inner? That's up to you, but if you're not using an inner, you'll probably want to use a groundsheet or floor.
  • Do I need to seal the seams? Tarp seams should be sealed using a sealer for silicone coated fabrics (we recommend Seam Grip +SIL by Gear Aid). Optional seam sealing service available.

Recycled, 20D Silpoly

The Recycled 20D Silpoly fabric uses a silicone-based coating on both sides. Silpoly absorbs less water than silnylon, reducing surprise weight, while lower sag ensures the tarp stays taut through the night.

    • Weight: 40-41 gsm | ~1.2 - oz/yd2
    • Hydrostatic Head: ~1800mm
    • Outer face coating: Silicone-based
    • Inner face coating: Silicone-based

Seam sealing: Due to the silicone coating, the seams cannot be taped and need to be manually sealed with seam sealer. You can do this yourself or use our seam-sealing service. Seam sealer is available here, and more information can be found on our Seam Sealing page.

Hang loops

Hang loops for suspending inners are placed under each apex and near the corners. When pitched low, the loops help keep floating tub floors elevated - just run the corner lines through the loops before clipping to the tarp.

Required items (not included):

  • Front Pole: About 44" - 45" (~111 - 114 cm) if pairing with the Bug Shelter or 39" - 42" (~99 - 107cm) if pairing with the Bivy
  • Rear Pole: At least 31" (~79cm) if pairing with the Bug Shelter or at least 26" (~66cm) if pairing with the Bivy
  • Stakes: 6 (8 for better wind stability)

Pitching

How to pitch the Cirrifrom

Start by staking out the corners of the tarp to establish your base. Raise the poles at the peaks and stake them to form the shelter's shape. Adjust and tension the lines evenly for a tight, balanced pitch.

Such short fun!
Style: Animal Sound, Size: Medium, Style: Animal Sound, Size: Medium
So it lasted one evening. The concept is great and I expected this one to last much longer because of the tire cover. It stopped making noises about 3 hours after I opened it. Keep in mind they slept for 1 of those hours and went for a walk came back and played but ignored it because it stopped making noises. I've attached a photo. Keep in mind it arrived yesterday, gave it to the dogs at 6:30 pm. By 9:30 pm, it was done. I would expect this level of damage from a larger dog, but I have two mini Aussies. Only one of them would go near it. I also wouldn't care if the tire part got a little wear and tear but this is extremely short playtime. I also purchased the ball. It still works, so I may have gotten a defective one. Not sure. I'll return and try again. I posted a photo because the boy dog was totally into it. The plain ball that talks is a HUGE hit. It got lost but suddenly responded to their noises. It was so funny. I'll have to write a review for the plain ball.

X-TireBall Durability
Style: Jingle, Size: Medium
If you have a small dog or a dog that doesn't chew, this is a nice toy to play with. The labradoodle that received this ball loved it however, since he is a chewer, this product didn't last 10 minutes before it started to fall apart. The danger is that the dog can swallow the rubber and it will be an expensive trip to the vet. Summary: If your dog chews -DO NOT buy this product. If your dog does not chew - then it's a playful toy.. a cat will like to play with it as the bell is not too loud I was disappointed that the product said it was for dogs that chew but wasn't

Dog loves!
Style: Jingle, Size: Small
A neighbor found this in town for her dog, who didn't like the ball. She tossed it over the fence for our dog who absolutely loved the ball! The dog ran around the house trying to hide it & bury it, but would go retrieve it after a minute or two and repeat the process! Went to try to find a new one in town, but couldn't, so ordered it. Unfortunately, the ball is made out of hard plastic, which didn't hold up too well to a jack russell's terrior teeth. The ball would be perfect if made out of the "kong" rubber. We ended up using black electrician's tape until the ball totally fell apart...the dog was so sad -- looking all over for her ball, just had to get her another one.

Another winner for my pup; wish batteries lasted a bit longer
Style: Animal Sound, Size: Medium
My dog loves these babble balls, but we always have to stuff them inside another, softer ball so that he can play with them. This tire ball lets him have something he can grab hold of to carry the ball around and tug with us. Yes, these are annoying, but it's a small price to pay when they bring the dogs such joy. I was concerned, based on other reviews, that the tire would be a hard plastic. It is plastic but it's not hard; it's flexible and "squishes" enough for my dog to grab the toy. We have several babble balls, and we replace the batteries pretty frequently. That is my only complaint with these; the way my dog plays, we maybe get a week out of the batteries if I let him have it all the time. I take it away from him after about 15 minutes because he gets too excited with it and because he will wear the batteries down so quickly. It takes little L44 button batteries when you need to replace them. So far he is very happy with this toy, and I'm happy with the price. He loves it. Update 11/7: both the tire and the ball are dead now. They shredded the tire after about 3 weeks, but the ball was ok. Normally, we just replace the batteries in Babble balls. However, the screws were impossible to get out of this one, and when we got them out by breaking the plastic, all of the electrical parts were rusty from saliva. We replaced the batteries to no avail. I'm a little disappointed because this was a less annoying one than the other two, and there had to be a design flaw because we got long lives out of them (one is still going strong).

HERE'S HOW TO CONTROL THE JUNGLE NOISE FROM IT...
Style: Animal Sound, Size: Medium
This was the first toy my rescue puppy played with at her new home with us five years ago ... it eventually stopped working and was cast aside. I always thought it was really clever and different, mostly because it isn't just a repeat of a couple of noises like some (one especially that is awful, just repeating "hey big doggie, I GOT cha!!" eight million times a day, but has over 20 sounds, per its maker. The other day I looked at the old dead one and got the PetQwerks name off it, searched, and found it on good ol' Amazon. As several reviewers note--and as its tag admits--"your dog will love it, but it will drive you crazy" --- I didn't think this would he the case for us, as we'd already had one and enjoyed it along with the pup. BUT I think it is both louder and easier to activate now -- a new and improved version apparently. I think it even irritates the dog, who gives it a "look" when it starts roaring, barking, and screeching across the room, seemingly by itself. The "key" (pun intended) to this problem is to retain the little clear plastic piece that you pull out when you first get the toy working. This piece keeps the battery from making contact and the toy from giving postal workers heart attacks thinking they're delivering a shipment of fighting weasels or illegal wildlife species. I had thrown it away. As soon as I realized my mistake, I tried to make a similar plastic piece, with no luck. Fortunately I found the original, and now keep it in a place where it will not get lost. It would be smarter, come to think of it, to put a colorful and visible tag on it so it won't get lost. As it is, it's as easy to overlook as a contact lens dropped on the floor. Another thing -- I ordered a medium size and got a ball that is larger than I wanted even though my dog is over 90 pounds. It is larger than a tennis ball. Large must be reeally big. Should note also that is is durable and I believe safe.
